• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Le Tour. Anyone else watching?

Vingegaard has just put 40 seconds into Pogacar in the space of 5 minutes!

Finished 1m40s ahead, big statement, but a looooong way to go yet.

Bugger.......I can't un-read that now! I haven't seen the results or the highlights yet.

Ah bum, sorry Mike, I'll refrain from comments until the following day from now on. I have it on the telly in the background while I'm working so didn't think. Sorry! :eusa-doh:

No problem at all Mark. I'm not going to get a chance to see it today anyway.

Ah Mike. 50kg, That's ridiculous. You've met my wife and she is slender and about 5ft 8". Even she does not weigh 50 kg. I am just over 6ft 2" and weigh 102kg on a very good day after not eating for a week. When I was at my fittest (rower, aged 20s) I was 88kg. Are those guys really that light?

Watched the race this evening on recording. Vingegaard looked determined. Impressive. The Pog did not seem all that bothered n post race interviews. Surprised that Wout was knackered so far from the end.

Pogacar is 67kg.

For us fatties the marginal gains make little to no difference but can to those boys. A few grams on the mech isn’t going to make much difference though with all the rest, plus there’s a minimum bike weight so the ridiculous thing is that they put all this into marginal gains then some of the have to actually add some weight to the bike to make it heavier!

Marginal gains of carbon…

Perhaps carbon is not all its cracked up to be.

When I was a youngster, the best bikes had Reynolds 531 alloy tubes with special welding. When my FIL bought his first carbon bike, the frame alone was 3000 euros (Orbea) though the resultant build with campag and Mavic wheels was noticeably lighter than the Pinarello that it superseded.

Presumably they just bin the frames after a crash as for sponsored teams the rankings I imagine are far more important than bike cost. Surprised that carbon frames break up like that though.

That’s more the sort of thing till I came off and tore my leg open just above the knee, not a mark on my jeans but 4” wide and an inch deep tear in the flesh. All ok now but quite a scar.
He certainly wrecked that frame!

Just how many tellys in the background have you got? :) TDF on one, Ashes on another, maybe even Wimbledon on a small portable?
I can just imagine the video conference with noises off.:)

Haha big telly with cricket on, iPad with cycling, or cycling on big telly if the cricket’s not on. ;)

Not much bothered with the tennis tbh.

Same here. Except where I am panelling I have the big telly on (now on telescopic wall mount which works well) and other stuff (BBQ showdown currently) in the office on a side screen. Work on the other two screens. Who says men can't multi task!
