• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I’ve been regretting getting rid of my drum sander for ages (downsizing forced many ‘unpleasant’ decisions to be made) and looking for a replacement has proved interesting.

Second hand values were stupid and every time I thought I was close the price seemed to rocket.

I then found that Charnwood were about to release a smaller model (10 inch) and went to have a look at one over at Yandles which is quite close to me.

I was just going to have a play and come home for a think but there was only one left in stock so I went for it.

Not the best photos but you get the idea.

First impressions are very good. Despite being small it is hernia inducing heavy and so a wheeled trolley is required in my small workshop (it does come with a two wheeled lift and move set up but awkward in a small workshop).

Load changing is straightforward but a little awkward but then so was my big one. Not run an awful lot of stuff through yet but initially quite impressed for the money.
 
Wouldn't be without mine.

If I had the space, I'd go for the 16/32 for the type of work I do.
 
Like Stuart, I've been wanting a drum sander for a while. Same story with coming close on second hand stuff on the bay. I very nearly pulled the trigger on the Jet 10-20 model from the same seller Bob linked to @ around the £1000 mark.

I placed my order for this with Yandles before they were released. It was £50 off list price and came with 5 free sanding belts.

My thoughts on it are ... it was the right size for my space. The price is the cheapest out there that I could see. The build quality is on a par with Axminster Craft / Workshop. It was quiet - the DE was much louder. It was parallel across the piece. The feed belt could be better. I found a number of work pieces slipping on the feed belt if I went more than a quarter of a turn on the height wheel. For my hobby use it is more than adequate.

I also agree with the wheels. In a small space (mine is 2/3rds of a single garage) it is difficult to move, so will definitely be making a carriage for it and removing the stock wheel kit.

That looks virtually identical to mine Stuart. Mine was bought s/h from a UKW member who makes drums and wanted a larger model, it's an unbranded import but perfect for my use.
