......... I now vaguely remember the nurse saying these things to me after I came round, but I wasn't really that compos mentis at the time. I wasn't sure if he said "you will experience abdominal pain afterwards" or if he said "if you experience abdominal pain, contact your doctor." This sheet now confirms if you experience 'severe pain in your neck, chest or abdomen' after the procedure, contact your doctor immediately.

Well, I had an awful night sleep last night - couldn't sleep on either side as I had discomfort and bad nausea (much worse than normal), so I had to sleep on my back. Problem was, as I nodded off, I would then turn over onto one side and the discomfort would wake me up, and so this continued through the night - bad night. I've also had a worse than normal discomfort all day. This evening, I've had to put on my braces so I can undo my trousers and lower the fly. :shock: :lol:

I've got so used to feeling discomfort in the abdominal area, so I'm unsure whether this is pain or just discomfort at a slightly higher level than I'm used to. I'm not curling over in agony which would be severe pain I guess, but it is forcing me to walk a bit odd and sit strangely, but then, I do anyway. I'll see how I go through the night.

Did any of you chaps experience similar after your examinations?

With the normal proviso (I am not a doctor), that doesn't sound right to me. At the very least I would ring the number on the discharge paperwork you'll have been given, and check with them whether this abdominal pain should be followed up.

Thanks Mike. Yep, I'm taking the paperwork with me to the workshop and I'll phone them this morning. Last night was better but still not right, and I still have a worse discomfort than normal.

Ah thanks chap, yep all will be fine I'm sure. It's just the usual stuff slightly exaggerated than normal. I'm sure it's nothing horrible. I think it's weening off the steroids that's causing this.

Thanks Andy, yep, better than the night before but still not brilliant. Similar discomfort/pains although I did nod off quite quickly. I woke a few times, up twice for the loo, but it was returning to bed around 5am when I had a really bad wave of discomfort - or in fact, this was pain... I had to keep the duvet off my stomach with my arms as the weight of it aggravated the nausea - lots of heavy breathing to relieve the pain. I've experienced this several times though in the last months but last night's episode brought on a bit of a sweat on the brow. I'll phone them today and see what they say. I think i'll have to wear the braces today.

Haha... I've learnt something today....

First up, I phoned the hospital and told them about my worsened discomforts in the ole belly area and they advised I phoned the GP's surgery as they're much closer. But before ending the conversation, I thanked them for the report received through the post and asked them roughly when I should expect the biopsy results. The lady told me I already have the results. Confused by this, I asked her to kindly explain, which she did...

My consultant told me they were going to examine for celiac disease and cancer with a biopsy - although he was certain celiac was out of the equation. So, the main reason for my endoscopy was to check for cancer. In my report received yesterday is; 'Procedures: Biopsy - CLO test - negative' (Looks good to me but what is it?) What I didn't know; the CLO test is a rapid diagnostic test for diagnosis of Helicobactor pylori - the nasty bacteria which is likely to trigger stomach cancer. The results can apparently be confirmed within 30 minutes of biopsy. So this means, which was confirmed today, I already have my biopsy result which was to test for H. pylori and the result is 'negative' - hooray! I don't know why they couldn't have told me this on Sunday if it only took minutes - I was asleep on the ward for over an hour.

Although, when looking up 'CLO Test' earlier this evening to learn more about it, I did read a few reports suggesting the CLO Test is unreliable in diagnosing H. pylori - oh that's just great.

I still phoned my GP's surgery and spoke with the relief doctor. He didn't really know but said all seems good after he read my report. He did offer me some nausea meds, but to be honest, I don't want any drugs at the moment as I seem to react to whatever I take. I tried some over the counter a few weeks ago after chatting with a pharmacist, but they had the adverse effect and I was sicker for 3 days.

Oh I don't know.... :|

I'll see how things go from here. The braces are definitely helping. I think I'll have a browse on ebay for a snazzy pair!

The endoscopy hasn't been a waste of time by any stretch, but I kind of knew my newly developed symptoms during the last months are steroid connected. Oh boy, these steroids are powerful little blighters!

The fact of this is; everything visually looked normal, so that's sounds good to me.

And now with the old symptoms back as well, the housekeeping has gone up by a tenner on extra loo rolls. :lol:
