• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Not such a roll today

I got the finish on the small book case and delivered it last night. I also got the finish on the two alcove doors which I finished off this morning. I then made a start on these double gates in softwood again.

Still a bit of work to do on these yet but not a bad start really. :D

I managed to get the frames completed today and ready for the panels. I have already cut the V T&G boards ready for fitting and given them a good couple of coats of timber treatment.

I got them completed today and they are now ready for fitting....when the weather allows. looks like it could be towards the end of this week, I hope. ;)

I'm not sure why you have a horizontal just below the arched top? Is this to pick up a strap hinge, maybe?

I've made gates in the past, and been let down by the glue, so I'd be interested to know what you've used, Alan. Will these be painted or stained?

Hi Mike, yes you are correct the top horizontal is for the band hinge. I use the waterproof PVA for my gates and so far have had no problems with it. I am not sure what the customer is going to use on them but think they will be stained as the old ones were. ;)

Nice work - I like the T&G panelling.
Supposed to be having another Indian summer at the end of the week - I hope so too as I have arranged for my hedge to be trimmed then?
