• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

SIP dust extractor ..


I'll have a look myself 1st ,when I get a chance, and report back

symptoms so far .. not used it for a couple of weeks
pressed play and nothing .. hand on motor, I could feel it trying.
hose off, and spin the fan with a pencil up the hole, and the motor slowly spins up , but doesn't get very fast.

1st though was the cap .. but I hadn't noticed before .. no cap ?

I'll take the lid off the box when I get a chance, maybe a small cap inside ? .

either way, I'll report back :-)
 
no hurry Bob .. I have to get the down time to stop and take the switch cover off and have a looksee

You have to look at the ratings in voltage and microfarads (uF). Anything over 240v will be fine, but the capacitance should be reasonably close to what's in there.

I think those numbers are the climatic ratings for the capacitor, the first is the lowest temperature -40 , the next is the highest temperature +70, but I cannot find the last one defined, sorry.
So the replacement one you are looking at will be OK a so long as you don't move to the north pole. [emoji38]
 
well , it's been a while !

whilst I re-cooperate, I've been fixing stuff.

Finaly go round to putting that capacitor in.

It ran great for about a minute and then broke again. motor slowed, and made an unpleasant noise.

I'm guessing the start/run switch , inside the motor is the cause ?
If so, are these cheap motors serviceable ?
 
Open it carefully and you might find the switch is fixable. Take it steady and observe how the mechanism works and which way round things go (photos to document) WATCH OUT FOR PING-**CKITS

You almost certainly cant get spare parts for these switches but sometimes you can fashion parts out of phosphor bronze sheet.

PS what is the big white lump with the black leads coming out?
