• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Anyone have any specific recommendations for a right angle drill driver attachment for getting into confined spaces please? Can’t get enough torque with a stubby screwdriver and probably useful in the future too. Seems to be lots out there. Looking for one that isn’t made of cheese

Many thanks

Mark

Hi look at the Milwaukee installation driver kit , I have found it very handy over the years but not if you are driving large 4 inch screws, all the other stuff it is fine.

I have one that will fit my Festool drill and it's got me out of many a deep hole. Don't know though if it can be bought as a separate 'add on' - Rob

Edit - plenty to choose from online

Haha I thought someone would mention the festool. I think it’s part of the drill kit?

I don’t need to buy a new drill, festool Milwaukee or otherwise perfectly happy with my makitas

I have seen there are loads online but looking for an actual recommendation of one of them please

Many thanks

Mark

I also have the Festool version for my TXS drill and it's been so useful over the years.....
I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit any other make of drill though...!

There used to be an aftermarket one that was a shiny alluminium version and it just fitted into the chuck of your drill......nowhere near as compact though as the Festool or Milwaukee versions.

I decided it fell into the category or once in a blue moon use so not worth spending lots on. Mine's an unbranded Chinese version, and have only used a few times but has worked fine.

I’ve had a few of the angle attachments that fit into a chuck, they all work, well kind of….. Bought the Festool txs with angle drive and the difference is night and day.

I can't recommend any, but I may have one knocking about that I can lend you if you want? If you want one to keep for future then keep looking, but if you just want to get this job done then I can hunt out what I have (hopefully...). Let me know.

I bet your bank balance was as well !!

About 20 year’s ago I decided to only buy the best and generally that ment Festool.
Since then better paid work came in. Can’t prove it was down to Festool but their quality definitely helps with the finished job.
Also super easy to get all the systainers to and from site
Couple of months ago my big dewalt cross cut saw died and I bought a Kapex, it’s the first time in 40 years that I’ve used a crosscut that cut 100% perfect.

Mine came in the Festool TXS Set along with the drill.....I've had it about 5 years now and back then, the complete set with 3 chucks, 2 batteries and a charger was less than £200..... Not cheap @£75 on it's own currently, but the drill itself gets used practically every day as it's my go to drill driver for the majority of the time.👍

My Bosch 12V drill driver came with a right angle attachment as well as an offset one which is pretty handy. But if the space is too tight to get a decent grip with a stubby though you're probably going to struggle to get sufficient pressure to stop a drill slipping. Have you considered a mini ratchet?

(for illustrative purposes, the Bahco version is just as functional and a sight cheaper)
I would not leave the workshop without this in my bag, and it rarely gets put away when I'm at the bench, pipe organs tending to be both congested and riddled with decades old screws. You'll thank yourself in future if you use some tallow or similar when you reassemble.

Thats very kind and much appreciated Mark. On this occasion I think by the time postage is paid and item delivered it'll be not much more to buy my own. But thank you.

GarF, hard to describe, but on this occasion I'm confident I'll be able to do what I need. Though I can see a mini ratchet would be very useful as well.
