• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My Daughter is starting university in a few weeks and I need to gather up a tool set for her, I have got most of them but I am still looking for a block plane.

The one I want is a Stanley G12-020 - it must be in nearly new condition and the early type with a cast cam lever. You can tell this type by the number stamped on the side and the yellow and black sticker - the later type have a black and white label. ( bloody fusspot )

If any body can help please let me know.

That is a refreshing concept. I always made my engineers go down to our prototyping shop to discuss their initial designs with the guys who were going to have to make their creations..

There a still far too many people these days who think that if CAD can draw it someone will be able make it.

Reviews at Axminster of the current range of Stanley block planes are pretty abysmal. I've had all the Axminster Rider block planes at home in the workshop over the last few weeks and the best of the bunch by far is this one. Not the fit n'finish of a LN, but then it's only around a quarter of the price. A really nice, workable little plane with a decent O1 blade - Rob
 
Picked up a nice one from a junk shop in Wells so all sorted now.
Thanks Rob, if I hadn't found one by now I would have given one of them a go, I have been using one of the Stanley G12 020 planes for years now and it is great - it is one of the older ones with a cast lever, not one with a pressed type. I used one of them and it was awful.
