• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Looking for some advice, I always get splinters in my hands, however today I have a whopper in my thumb and think it could be time to consider wearing gloves.

What if any type of gloves do you wear?

While I've been working on the frame and roof for my verandah, and especially while I've been using the OSB, I use the red gloves from SFix.

I think thy were on offer at the counter at £1.99. At that price, I bought several pairs and as any rips occur, I binned them and used a new pair.

They certainly stopped the OSB splinters.
 
I use something simular.....the ones I use are quite thin so as to be able to feel the timber....can still answer the phone with then on and do quick emails.... I use them for doing all machining work, hand sanding, have them in the van at home love them!

Yesterday I was rough grinding the shaping on one of my barstool seats using the 5 tooth tct Ax cutter that drops into an angle grinder. It's a really vicious bit of kit and wearing heavy duty leather gardening gloves is mandatory or else your hands will feel as if they've been sand blasted :shock: - Rob
 
Thanks for the advice all, sorted myself out with a make and type that fits most your specs, those hands should be safer now.

However after visiting A & E today, and seeing the plastics team tomorrow, this latest splinter (or skelf) has been a painful experience to be sure!!

Gloves on always now..... ;)
