We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. There were a lot of science words in there however (polyamide, trypanosome, tetrachloride) and as I am a scientist I suspect this might have skewed my result to the positive side! I presume word selection is random, so if I did it again the score might be lower - on that basis I am not going to :)

Which book be that then, Mark? I have the BRB (Big Red book) aka Chambers Dictionary and I can't find carpentering. Mind you, blacksmithing isn't there either !! :lol:

But how about a writer? Writering? Or a painter ?

Those are all real words, Terry. The test is wrong.

Slouth - noun private detective (see Holmes)
Dimbetology - a passion for everything David Dimbleby says (see also Richard Dimbleby)
Fedable - a tasty looking bird who'll let you take her out to dinner but no further (cf. bedable)

Collins says it can be.

However, according to the same Collins dictionary, there is no such word as undergrounding. Hurrah.

I can sometimes be roused onto my hind legs over what these Merkins have done to our language but have become less excitable with age and let it flow over me whilst trying to ensure none of it sticks to me.

eg I always "visualise" NEVER "envision" my designs!

I hate the word 'inappropriate' as it is so smug and patronising. As in 'your behaviour is inappropriate'...sniff.

Also whatever happened to 'certainly' ? I hate For Sure.

I think Sue would say the same - but in girly terms of course. By all accounts, she was a quiet rebel with a cause. :D

Might have another go; Problem is I get distrated and works like 'ant' suddenly look like non-words :lol:

Also noticed a lot of American spellings :(
 
I got 79%. Much of what I missed were apparently British English--for example, doddle, workfolk, and appellee.

As far as blacksmithing--I've seen it and used it and it's legitimate as far as I'm concerned. However, carpentering is bogus--the word is carpentry.
