• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

The benefit of a poor short term memory

I got another ear-bending from the missus over supper last night. She went on and on and on.

When I woke up this morning I couldn’t remember what on earth it was all about. Think I might have to go and ask her.

……On second thoughts………..
NO, NO and thrice NO.
Never invite a second ear bending which is always accompanied by "you haven't listened or taken it seriously if you can't remember".

Play it safe Roger.

Didn't see this on Sunday - otherwise engaged elsewhere so apologies Roger...

As it's now Tuesday... has the memory recalled what it was about 🤔🙃... Curious... 😎

If it is important enough to her not to just let it go, you will surely get a reminder shortly anyway.

I've got to the stage of putting 'requests/notifications' from the LOML and/or daughter into the calendar on the phone/tablet... with a reminder to pop up the day before as well as 1hr (or more) before the requested *thing* is happening... mind... I sometimes forget 😕. If so I now tell her that, if it's important to her, she must tell me nearer the event 😎

I insist my wife writes on the callendar in the kitchen. If it's not on there it doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned. She's almost finished her training but it's taken almost 54 years. ;)

I like that idea 💡 @Lons 👍... but I very rarely look at the thing.

Mine tells me "I told you... "... sometimes she writes something on the calendar but I tell her if she doesn't tell me so I put in in mine it doesn't count. I'm far to busy to stop and look at the calendar in the kitchen 🤫😜😂

I'm retired so flatly refuse to put a callendar on my 'phone or synchronise with hers and have plenty of time for a glance at the callendar at breakfast time. It's one of those month at a glance thingies with just a line for each day, very little written accounts for my arrangements
I had enough of schedules and appointments when I was working. :)

Understand where you're coming from... I do it on my phone so I get the reminders in plenty of time. I used to be good... remembering doctor appointments and such but then they started to "slip my mind"... hence now the phone calendar reminders: day before, 1hr before and such... in case I get "distracted" easily done these days 🙃

Yep, we have a family calendar which syncs to all of our iphones (Wife, me and both kids), that way everyone knows what everyone else is doing and there's no arguments. You can also have your own entries showing in the Calendar app in a different colour that only you can see, for things like reminders to do something for wife's birthday etc...

I use the calendar in MS Outlook for meetings, Dr's, lunches, birthdays etc, etc. and if wife needs to know I attach her e-mail address.
Set the reminders for maybe up to a week and then just snooze closer to the time.
MSO is very good. It also records if someone has replied yes to the invite.
