The Oliver Machinery Co Ltd Patent Vice

A very simple system with no screw thread to wear out.
Pull, push, twist to lock and unlock.
Any information greatly appreciated.

Just picking up on the possible USA connection, but for a Ltd company in the UK, Grace's Guide says that the Manchester outfit was the UK operation of the American firm, so old US information is what you want.

Thinking that there might be a US patent for this design, like it says on the vice itself, I had a look on Datamp. There was nothing in the patents belonging to the Oliver company but I did find this one in the vices. Dated 1909 and belonging to the Abernathy Vise and Tool company.

A snugly fitting casting with a cammed surface follows the fear jaw on the bar. When skewed by the cam it binds under pressure upon the bar in a similar way to Solo clamps.

Being a complete saddo, I have an Oliver Woodworking Machinery catalogue from 1922. Although I bought it from a shop here, It's interestingly from Australia rather than here, " SOLE AGENTS, Goodall & Co LTD, 303-305 Kent Street, Sydney" is stamped on the front and on a few pages inside, It's made a very long journey possibly from America to Australia to Britain to finally end up in my possession! Unfortunately, there's no mention of the vice shown by Andy but there's a couple of others:
