• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I was going to ask "What's this plane?", but that may have caused confusion. :lol:

We are not far from Duxford, so get lots of interesting planes flying by. Here is a flying boat nearly over our garden a couple of days ago. De Haviland?

We just get boring old Hercules, Typhoons, Tornado's, Hawks, Chinooks and Black Hawks flying over us very low - actually maybe I ought to put that requirement into the pot when house-hunting :eusa-think: - to be in a low-fly zone.
 
We also get inordinate numbers of helicopters, both civilian and military. I didn't realise that helicopters had organised flight paths, but we see some damned impressive machines on a regular basis. Of course, we also get to see a few Hurricanes, Spitfires and the like, plus a few bi-planes.
 
We live directly in the flight path of Boscombe Down. Last year I saw a Dakota with D-Day markings come low over the house on it's approach to the runway, but there was a slight issue.

One prop was feathered :o - Rob

They were probably practising loss of one engine. Watched the last episode of City in the Sky, part of which showed a flight crew in an Airbus simulator practising gliding. They got it down OK...but in this scenario lucky they were within gliding range of the airport. We don't have many Hudson's - the successful landing thereon encouraged this new aspect of pilot training.
