• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Workshop on a slope

Double doors seems like the best idea. @Mike G just found your workshop drawings, very thankful too! 👌🏻 I imagine a lot of people have found this useful

Apologies in advance if this is a boring question...

Regarding permitted development.

My garden is 9.6m wide. As I understand, if I were to build a 5.5m wide workshop keeping a 2m distance from all property boundaries I can build up to 4m in height with a max eves height of 2.5m. Whereas if I were to build the same workshop 7m wide atleat a metre from all boundaries I would have to stay under 2.5m in total height?

PLease let me know if I've got this totally wrong... The difference in height seems massive!

Thanks, Patrick

Hi Patrick,
Yes, that’s my understanding of the PD rules too. A further stipulation - regarding scenarios where you’re at least 2m away from any boundaries - is a max height of 3m if it’s a pent roof (ie the 4m max height applies to dual-pitched rooves only).
Good luck with your build.

Thanks John. Good to know I'm understanding it the same as you.
