• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Slaughterbots

Hmmm....... Being by nature suspicious and sceptical I'm wary of hidden motives behind that, especially on youtube. I haven't looked further into it though.

Ah, just realised it's 5 years old. Thought it was very Terminator ish. It's been a long day. :ROFLMAO:

Interesting. I've seen a different version of this video before, but in Dutch and with a different professor at the end. I don't think it far fetched. I'm aware that the aerospace universities have been working on ultra light drones for a long time. In the video the delivery system was shown to be a slow aircraft. In reality it would be a robotically printed launch vehicle (missile if you like) of exactly the type now commonly being manufactured at low (relatively) cost to launch low orbit satellites. It's scary stuff. We have recently seen footage of drones being used to find military targets in the middle east. As soon as the AI becomes truly effective they wont need base control or base contact.

Very interesting film. I think there was a Black Mirror episode on a similar theme.
I wonder what the defenses would be for a threat like that. Thick stone and amour plating perhaps. Personal EM pulse weapons that can detect an incoming threat and disable it? Or, how about a personal drone that can follow you around and kamikaze into anything targeting you?
I do think that once a threat is recognised and analysed, then countermeasures can be brought into play and it stops becoming a threat.
