• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. A person on another site has found this corner brace in the UK and was wondering if anyone knows who made it and when was it made. As a brace collector I have never seen this one before, any ideas? Thanks in advance, Geoff.Angle brace 1.jpg

I agree that it's pretty but have nothing much to add.

Is it smaller than usual? Does it work both ways or just clockwise?
I'm wondering if it's a skilled one-off made by the user. I think that's possible.

I don't recall seeing anything like it in a catalogue.
 
I've always known them as "Joist Braces", to let you bore holes through floor joists (presumably for lead piping back then). I have one somewhere, but it was a NOS purchase in the 1970s, and is more like an ordinary ratchet brace. It has a longer handle than that one.
If I can find it I'll photograph it.
The one above looks like a very early pattern, or even home/blacksmith-made ( parts from other tools?). I think they died out with power tools and spade bits.
