I was chatting to @Mike G the other day, and unsurprisingly the subject of bog oak came up - he's been so generous with sharing his amazing stash of this unique timber. I was trying to tell him about a piece of work I saw last year but couldn't find a picture to show him. I now know that it was in the Oak Room in Tamworth Castle, in Staffordshire. Surprisingly, I can't find many images at all on line, but there is a brief video from when it was restored a year ago. I suggest that you watch to near the end, when the scaffolding is out of the way, and then freeze the video to admire the astonishing quality of the eighteenth century carving.
And if you're anywhere nearby, do pop in and see it for real!
