• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Mmm some treats for today.

We have shrinkflation of Jaffa cakes over here. Same size box. Inside? 25% of the space. Price. Up 10%

The shrinkflation is everywhere. Make the bloody box fit the product properly therefore saving on packaging costs. I guess the marketing teams think we are stupid. Don't get me going!

Got to admit West Nipissing made me chuckle so much so I had to google it just to find out more about the place

Names can be strange when not used to them. West Nipissing wraps around a portion of Lake Nipissing. Also adjacent Nipissing First Nation.
How about Over(Upper), Middle and Nether(Lower) Wallop your way. :)

Easier to cut the size of the product so able to make more of than to get the packaging manufacturer to resize the machines/cardboard and printing changed. And as far as shrinkage I'd reckon more like 33.3% than 25%...

We have plenty of daft names over here, like Scratchy Bottom (Dorset), Curry Mallet (Somerset), Shitterton (Dorset), Tickle Cock Bridge (Yorkshire) and many, many more...

AFlushing
sk Google and it'll come up with a few - even ask you if you want for the 'rudeness' level of! 🤣... (plus other links will be presented)

Came up with these as starters:
Shitterton (Dorset): Despite sounding rather unpleasant, its Old English name actually means "the farmstead by the stream used as an open sewer". (Already mentioned by @Dr.Al )
Wetwang (East Yorkshire): An Anglo-Norse name meaning "the meeting place for a trial".
Bell End (Worcestershire): A classic and highly amusing village that gets quite a lot of attention for its road sign.
Crapstone (Devon): A village that residents proudly defend against the inevitable jokes.
Sandy Balls (Hampshire): Located near the New Forest, this is actually a well-known holiday center.
Penistone (South Yorkshire): Often hilariously mispronounced by outsiders, but historically derived from Old Welsh and Old English roots.
Uggley (Essex): Despite its unfortunate spelling, it actually dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086.
Cocks (Cornwall): A tiny hamlet near Perranporth where locals have heard every joke in the book.

There's also Flushing in Cornwall

Another shrinkflation trick is with the quantity
You automatically go for a 10 pack because its better value than the five pack but unaware the individual biscuit size is of lower weight.

Two of our local place names are Dicks Pitch and Balls Cross
Quite close together they are.

Or the 10 pack is now an 8 pk... Or a 12 is now either a 10 or 9! 😡

We find the supermarket version of most things preferable to the brand name regardless of the lower cost.
The surveys often come back with LidAldis own stuff beating the M&S fare.

Bought some Cherry Utopia Magnums a while back
Really looking forward....
Absolutely repulsive
Consolation prize - some Lidl Gelato fruit splits
Absolutely amazing
