• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Terminology - Two countries, separated by a common language

I and many others don’t like the use of ‘z’ instead of ‘s’. For example criticize. It just looks wrong. So you can imagine the ‘discussions’ we had at work when a new American Head of Marketing arrived. Some weeks later I bumped into her at the gym. I couldn’t resist saying ‘I see you’re doing...

8mm diamond drill bit recommendations sought

I took back the drill bit I got from Toolstation which had worn out after one hole. Brand = Minotaur. Total rubbish. Bought two Erbauer from Screwfix and cut the first hole - wet. The one 'good idea' I had was to pull the drill bit out of the hole and break off the 5-6mm tile stub. That...

8mm diamond drill bit recommendations sought

I’m not sure what you mean re tapping it out. My drill bit isn’t hollow all the way through

8mm diamond drill bit recommendations sought

Can anyone please point me in the direction of a decent make? Not like the utterly useless and waste of money one from Toolstation. You know, the one that wears out after one hole (wet cut) and even if it hadn't worn out, the hole down the middle is full of the remains of the first hole and...

What Is Your Self Afflicted Annoyance

We used to have that in the UK but most supermarkets now have done away with that AFAIK. My self-afflicted annoyance is forgetting what it was I'd just walked into the room to collect.

Osmo UV-Protection oil - still sticky and tacky

So I've had a reply from the supplier below. We have always coated the Osmo oIl in the factory because we cannot return to the site within the 12 week lead time to coat the building as requested by Osmo.. We have never had an issue doing this. The issue with your tacky coating is that the...

    Probably Bye for now...

I think you both make interesting points. We have three tech giants and in the final analysis IMO as to their positive contributions to humanity it's a hard call. But IMO someway ahead, and despite his drift to the 'dark side' by buying X or whatever it was called before he bought it, Musk has...

Osmo UV-Protection oil - still sticky and tacky

Our latest addition to the garden is a cedar clad building for LOML. The suppliers used a roller to apply Osmo UV-Protection oil and it is so, so sticky and tacky to the touch. Talking to Osmo technical department, the building supplier neglected to let the cedar weather for 12 weeks which...

True but there is also such a thing as ‘Cutting off your nose ….’. I respect Steve’s decision but having had a fair few outages, the amount of research etc we both do using the internet, we run both Gigaclear and Starlink. Minimal mobile coverage and/or a landline that is more noise than...

That would explain why Magnet kitchens cabinets are 601 mm and 602mm wide. Or worse !
