• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Rebate with spindle molder or benchsaw

It looks like it does the same job to me except you do not need a second groove. It looks like you would need a slightly deeper rebate than AQ21 to accomodate the seal... Interesting the comment about less time needed and would fit in with what the OP has at hand.

Rebate with spindle molder or benchsaw

A rebate block is what is normally used for rebates on a spindle moulder, it will leave a clean cut. The AQ21 can be put in a groove but it is better if put in a double groove so the flipper can sit flush with the frame as below: Axminster tools sell the cutter for £80. If you have a...

    Sheet cutting optimiser software

ReplyI think between the two above one is restricted to a certain amount (5) calculations per day the other is not (they all have some restrictions in Free Versions). They are both very similar but I think the one I used when doing sheet work is Opticutter.

Once you have mastered the skill required to hand carve you can advance to pretty much anything in woodwork. Very well done.

    Bosch Routers

    Bosch Routers

The below was on the Bosch site and is bigger than a palm router. DIY maybe but still larger than a palm router. The blue Bosch was/is the professinal range and not seen any pop up with a quick search. Edit: Just found their Professional Blue range and as you say they only show palm...

Can you spot what went wrong?

You say the crack in the outer gable wall may be due to the installation of new bay windows. I looked at a house a few year back where someone had knocked through the original kitchen wall to extend the kitchen into an adjacent outhouse they also put a new wider window in the corner. What...

Waiting for take out, this is the entrance , some interesting timber work.

What gets me on this construction is the lack of visual purlings which is a primary reason for having a supporting truss structure. That's why I think you and Mike have sussed it. Keen eyes!

Waiting for take out, this is the entrance , some interesting timber work.

I was going to disagree with you two on this one and say looking at the design the bottom chord looks like it is designed to take load. Mainly because of the below observations: I think the bottom projections, at plate height, are there to add support to the bottom chord because the framework...

I wonder how the loading on the framework actually works out? a king post truss does not put any load on the bottom chord (tie beam) but it looks like it would with this design.

Anyone used up cut spiral router bit

Up-cut bits are used to clear the chips out of the cutting area and I did heard of a utuber using an upcut bit in his router morticing jig. He mentioned using an upcut spiral bit at around 1:36 ...

    Now for the Chairs

I have only ever made one chair and found the angles of the joints quite challenging but also interesting to do. It's not a task you can take on lightly. When I made my chair I very much underestimated skill needed to complete the task but it is very satifying once completed. Walnut is such a...

    Kitchen and Two Bathrooms Renovation.

It is looking tidy but still a lot of bits to do. Lath and plaster, I have not come across that for a long time now. It is very dirty and dusty work taking down a lath plastered wall or ceiling, when I did it I used to come home looking like a coalman LoL Nice to see what you are up to Duke.
