• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Sheet material optimiser

I use Maxcut not that it is necessarily any better than others but I'm used to it and its free Designed for sheet material but for projects working from boards of a similar thicknesses you can enter the random board widths that you have available too. It also takes into account grain direction...

    Evri racing

OOH! I'll give that a go as Evri are due to deliver this afternoon. I can't agree with you Adrian, Our posties are excellent and few months back delivered prescription meds when they were supposed to be on strike. Even better they don't send emails with "how did your delivery go?" messages...

    Energy tariffs

Always seem to go up for the winter months and fall back in April. Uk pricing is very complex with daily charges being used for more than the cost of running the network. LX price is based on gas generation costs even when majority of power is coming from cheaper sources. Needs a good shake up...

    Energy tariffs

A bit of a heads up on energy pricing. Just been looking around the market and see there are starting to be a few competitive looking tariffs on offer again after a period of a year or so with no effective competition. If you are on a variable tariff now, then it could be worth fixing as...

    Home phone curiosity

No. The house phones connect to the modem and the calls come via t’internet. Soon everyone who want a house phone will be switched to this system. Meant to be done by 2025 but no doubt is running late as the deadline approaches.

    Home phone curiosity

For about a year our home phone has changed over to VOIP and comes in via the router. This has a call logger and an option to block pita callers. As you can see a certain Paul Lacoux who is already blocked tried 8 times within a minute to call us. We know of no such person. I assume it must...

    Mortgage security

Yes that was the major concern. However if as others suggest it would have to be a joint mortgage then perhaps buyer 1 (cash) could take over buyer 2 payments and evict buyer 2 having caused the default in the first place. I expect there might be an input from the bank of Mum & Dad of buyer 1 if...

    Mortgage security

Yes it is 50-50 split but as Robert says, an agreement is needed so that the cash buyer gets 50% of the sale proceeds first and if the balance turns out to be insufficient to clear the loan of the other party then that is firmly his problem to sort out with the lender.

    Mortgage security

I've been out of the mortgage market for many years and lost touch with how they deal with certain situation. Eg two friends intend to buy a house between them. Buyer 1 will pay cash, buyer 2 will need to borrow. How will the lender handle the security of the loan. If buyer 2 were to default on...

Moving house - spindle moulder dilemma

For multiple machines a rotary converter would be my choice and also covers you for future acquisitions. Aim for something rated at about 30% bigger than the highest power load that you envisage. They do come on the market as used and transwave offer a refurb of the capacitors if you dont want...

Moving house - spindle moulder dilemma

Rotary converter will need good stout single phase supply to start up a big spindle reliably. If there is not sufficient current for a converter then an inverter will allow a much more gentle start up with the additional benefit of changing speed without fiddling with belts.

    Kitchen Dilema!

Make the trap from threaded compression fitting so they can be taken off to allow cleaning the pipe. If you do use solvent weld fittings then include a rodding eye in line with the main pipe.

    Home-baking gluten free loaf

I'm afraid I'm just a "Tesco packet into the bread maker" home baker but do get the odd" minimal rise-brick loaf". I will try correlating these with weather conditions from now on.
