• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Garden weed killer

The correct name is ammonium sulphamate quite different from ammonium sulphate which is a fertiliser readily available on EvilBay. My brew of choice is about 60ml Glyphosate plus a teaspoon of ammonium sluphamate made up to 2.5 litres and sprayed on. Will sort out brambles and ivy with the...

Win 11 upgrade from Win 10 Unsupported machine

Steve, when you say your W10 pc was "non Compliant" do you mean that the standard win11 checker said it would not support W11 or something else rendering it non compliant? Do you feel w11 is a significant improvement when using or just different? I tend to be a bit of a luddite and only upgrade...

    Lloyds banking app problems

I tried that Dave. See first post. Lloyds admitted to me on the phone that there was a problem but they did not go public about it. Quite a few complaints on Facebook. It took several days until all their helpdesk staff were briefed about the issue.

For anyone affected, there is a revised version of their banking app released now and they appear to have fixed the problems with older iphones. I for one will not be auto updated it for a good while! 9-10 days of access denied. Grrr 😖

I don't eat much cake being diabetic and so never really developed my home cake making skills but I do like the Aldi Fruit loaf and Irish whisky cakes as a naughty treat, with or without butter and a lump of strong cheese, these cakes are the dog's danglies - loads of fruit too unlike many shop...

    Inverters appearing in domestic appliances

The two machines are like chalk and cheese. The old one must have a very worn compressor. it runs for several hours between breaks. Condensation can can get into the insulation making it less effective plus modern foams are quite likely to be more effective. Manufacturers are being encouraged...

    Inverters appearing in domestic appliances

Last weekend i moved the contents of the old knackered freezer into the new inverter driven one. The daily power consumption difference is staggering. Up until 12/10 is the old one, 12/10 part day old and getting the new down to temperature and from them onwards is just the new one. About 1/9...

    Powering a bandsaw off grid

@Simon Just been out to try the propane 3150w genny. With the genny set to Eco mode ie auto throttle, it runs the 900w bandsaw without increasing from idle and leaving the bandsaw running and starting my 3hp (2200w) extractor, the engine note rises during start up and then throttles back once...

    Powering a bandsaw off grid

I've just conducted an easy experiment. 1000w honda genny is 100% happy running my three phase bandsaw 900 watt motor via a mitsubishi inverter. So you could scale up from that. My other genny is 3150 watts but I'd have to drag out the propane cylinder as well. I could load that up with...
