• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

New adjusting knobs for Bailey style planes.

Engravings? Lever caps? Tool pimping requires much more imagination than that, chaps, if you want to be a trend setter. Okay, so I set it eleven years ago and it has yet to trend, but one of these days...

    Workbench height

Time to think outside the box, Mike. Or on the box. You might consider a 2m tall bench and a step ladder, f'rinstance. In fact I think I'm certain we've had this conversation around here before... No good giving you my bench height because the floor slopes, so it's different both ends...

New word from the new world.

Ian, where on earth have you been?! I'm so out of date with common wood torturing things that it came as a revelation that gopher wood was good for ark building, and yet the term "till" in relation to tool storage is old hat to me. Must be a very sturdy bucket you've had your head under these...

I need the name of a tool.

Guaranteed the very next job you want it for, it'll be just too short. DAMHIKT. And as we're in Hand Toolery and you all like pictures, have one of such a clamp adapted for use with a combination plane:

    Funny little bull nose plane

Andy, you must have the memory of an elephant. Here 'tis: Diabolical plane; thrilled never to have owned one. :D

    Maybe one for the cruciverbalists

Confession time; I haven't quite managed to walk away. And I confess this because, to my intense irritation, I've had an Eric Morecambe moment - all the right letters, just not necessarily in the right order. :eusa-doh: Rather enjoying the Worldle one.

    A slow chest of drawers

Yeah, the wood doesn't help at all. Sometimes I think we're too hard on ourselves and don't make allowances for the fact we're often having to use timber that Ye Olde Hande Toole User would have never dreamt of having anything to do with. Anyway, keeping the blessed thing vertical is usually...

    Record 043 - thingy

Ooo, snazzy. Mine are rather more prosaic 7mm silver steel. Hang on, should be able to find my old 043 page somewhere with a pic... Here 'tis; Such a great little plane. Makes me want to go and make some grooves now, but I can't. Bwaaaaa. Might as well have the whole thing, as it has...

Oak pergola (finished, with a twist)

Mike, your w'shop's too tidy and you work far too fast, but other than that :eusa-clap:

Uh-huh. Very tempted to try "SCORE" as my first word today, but only because "KERCHING" wouldn't fit. Mind you, even a "low seven figure sum" may have been a bit steep, as I suspect this thing's popularity will run its natural course pretty soon. Well, if you're using the first word you said...

Easily might have been a sixer like Phil or Andy. Even with the outrageous good fortune to have picked the right word ending on guess three, there are several other choices that I could have taken first.

Ridiculous game. Agreed. I got "MOULD" on my third guess, then tried "WOULD", but it turned out to be "COULD". How was that anything but luck?

Not if you pick the wrong options - twice - it isn't! :eusa-doh:

Considering the awful start and a wasteful second guess, luckier than I deserved.

Both fortune and misfortune. So it goes.

    This is an irritating game.

Knew I was feeling below par this morning, but hadn't realised it included going temporarily colour-blind. As a result spent three guesses trying to place a letter that was already in the right place. :eusa-doh: Once that penny dropped (very slooooowly) it was straightforward. So yeah, safe to...

*insert prolonged swearing and questioning of game's creator's parentage*

Clearly a luckier choice at 2 was the difference twixt Andy and me. So still a stoopid game.

Second word choice made all the difference, otherwise...
