I recently ordered some goods from Amazon, on next day delivery, which failed to arrive - lost somewhere in transit by DPD.
Frustratedly I found you couldn't contact the supplier direct but had go through Amazon themselves.
Eventually I got an apology, and a refund and a link in case I still wished to purchase the goods - the link back to the original supplier!
The sad thing is that I still need the goods - other suppliers are twice as expensive - DOH!!

Why not just reorder from the same supplier? The chance of it getting lost again must be minimal.
DPD are generally very good you can even track the delivery van on a map in the last hour or so. Not so much useful but a good demo of integrated technology.

I have a love-hate relationship with Amazon.

On the one hand the way they deal with returns is remarkable. They instantly credit your card as soon as you start the return process. The customer reviews are usually quite informative unlike some forums where the sole contribution by some is "Yes, I've got one of those as well. I like the colour".... :eusa-doh:

But, like ebay, I loath them cluttering up my screen and bandwidth with Recommendations and Other people who bought this also bought .............At least you can turn off your viewing history.

I'm holding fire at the moment as I've managed to contact DPD direct and they are looking into it?
My frustration was the problem of not being able to inform the supplier who could have sent me a replacement ASAP - I ordered the goods on August 8th.
Anyway circumstances have changed (back in hospital) So my need is not now that urgent.

I've just moved my main credit card to amazon after Barclay card made changes to their terms that object to.
1% cash back (2% for Amazon purchases) in the form of amazon credits.
Even if I don't buy much during the year, books and DVDs for Christmas presents often come from amazon as the cheapest or near cheapest source.

Yes I'm afraid it's my drains - my new join sprang a tiny leak which became infected and I also developed CDiff
The good thing is that I'm in isolation, a fully equipped room with ensuite all to myself and lovely views over Winchester towards St Catherine's Hill
Everybody entering have to wear plastic aprons and gloves including visitors!
I just have to stay put though I can wonder around my domain.
The room and it's gear will have to be fumigated when I leave and I'm classed as a carrier for 12 months - which means if ever I get admitted again, it's straight into isolation!

Don't know where I picked it up but they test for MRSA before you are admitted and then every week - this one is not as common?
The fumigation is carried out by some electronic machine - they seal the room with the equipment etc inside and leave it running for a few days?

You got me interested in that card but I can't find any online application for it. What I did find was a MBNA page saying the amazon card scheme will end in september 2014 after which it is a simple useless reward scheme on days out and such just like Barclays.

Amazon have decided to pull out of offering credit cards so my terms will change too.
MBNA claim their replacement scheme will be "just as good if not better" yeah right!

I only got the card in April so it looks like I'll be searching for yet another card! :?

Just spoke to Amazon who said that there are no points schemes or nice-to-haves with the MBNA card. Any points accrued will create a gift certificate (normally triggered in £10 increments). So if you had, say, 568 points then you'll get £5.68 certificate. I told the lass not to bother to send me the MBNA card but she said that if that happened then I'd lose my points. Better to get the card and then cancel (well, I'll probably keep it for emergencies maybe ...not sure....depends if they drop my credit limit).

Similar feeling here Roger. I've been looking at other cards and at the moment am leaning towards the AMEX free card which has quite good cash back rates and most of my expenditure on the card which is Fuel, food (ASDA) RS components and paypal all accept Amex.
I already have a Halifax card for foreign currency use ( no surcharges) so if I come across a retailer who objected to AMEX, then I can use that instead.
I'm just about to go on holiday so I'll wait until my return to apply to Amex to maximise the benefit of their first 3 month 5% cash back incentive - should be just about right to hit the Christmas peak in spending with luck.

Ah, now you're talking. Our BA Amex is our preferred card as it gives us BA airmiles. To date, we've flown Club to India twice, Tokyo/Hong Kong twice, and Club to NY and Concorde back! All free other that fuel surcharge and taxes (admittedly not cheap).

If you reach a threshold level of spend then you get a companion voucher - which doubles your airmiles. IE if I have enough miles to go comfy Club class to India then SWMBO can get a complimentary Club class ticket.

If you elect to pay a moderate annual fee then the threshold level is reduced by a fair bit plus you accrue airmiles at a faster rate per pound spend then you do with the basic card.

I've never forgiven Amex for rejecting me when I was about 18. Probably just as well as my credit cards were maxed out most months.
