• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I bought a cheap bathroom cabinet with a fitting that I’ve not seen before. Unusually they didn’t supply mounting screws and you can’t use countersunk screws of which I have thousands. :(
I bought some Torx pan head for the job. Anyone else come across mountings like these?

It makes the cabinet easy to hang as the screws go in first and are then tightened after the keyhole plates go on. It also allows a little vertical adjustment.

The old cabinet had a pair of sawtooth brackets that were screwed to the wall on which the cabinet hung. This allowed lateral but no vertical adjustment.

We used to have a bathroom cabinet with similar fixings to those. As you say, they make hanging (and minor adjustments) very easy.

Almost identical to the ikea bedroom cabinet fittings, very easy to use though I don’t see why you can’t use countersunk screws, I do.
They don’t supply fixing screws as they don’t know what substrate the unit is going to be fixed to & I imagine it would leave them open to being sued if they supplied a fixing that wasn’t suitable which subsequently failed :eusa-think:
Just an aside those fisher raw plugs are about the best I’ve used, my go to choice these days

Fisher Raw plugs rock!

The cabinet is now on the wall. In spite of careful drilling - I always start with a 3mm masonry bit first, the holes still ended up a little off so the height adjustment did come in handy.
Yes, it’s an IKEA cabinet. The instructions clearly say not to use countersunk screws. If you did use them it would distort the keyhole plates.
I bought the plugs specially as I only had 6mm Fischer in stock. They do seem to be better than most brands out there.
