• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Bob '9fingers' Minchin

A big loss to these woodwork forums. Like many I never met him but we’ve conversed privately and he’s helped me with motor problems as well. If he ever gave advise it was always worth listening to. My condolences to his family

This is so very sad - I caught the news yesterday , that was my first lurking for quite a while as my woodworking days are fading and most of major equipment has been dispersed due to arthritis . The only time I met Bob in person was when Kirk was over from Illinois and about eight of us met at a pub in Redbridge , Southampton . Bob was a fountain of knowledge and helped with advice re motors , capacitors etc as many will attest . My condolences go out to his family . I,m sure he will be missed by all who knew him . As others have said , a top bloke .

Very sad news. I never met Bob but from all the above tributes he was obviously a helpful, knowledgeable and lovely member. My condolences to his family.

Can't be sure Eric, but I think I may have had a hand in organising that event. As I recollect Ax laid on a rather yummy spread in the photographic studio. Katina S wore a pink hi-viz waistcoat! - Rob
Indeed she did, and I think you did organise it (you might have been working for them at the time - it was quite a while back!).

I think that event was pre my Ax days (2014-17) when I (and loads of others) were active on the original UKW before it was sold off, so I'm guessing somewhere around 2010. It was though, a grand day out and I distinctly remember also that there was a room full of discounted goodies to tempt us and as I've got the breaking stain of a Kit-Kat, the CC came home with a dent in it :ROFLMAO: - Rob

I am really sad to hear the news. Whilst I never met Bob I have enjoyed his wisdom on the forum. He also managed to hold the mantle of woodworking with machines rather than by hand but did it with respect for all. My condolences to his family and friends for the loss.

Not been on here properly over Christmas and so only just seen this. Met Bob years ago at a UWK bash, he was so generous with knowledge and time he'll be sorely missed. Condolences to the family, particularly the timing.

How sad, what awful news :(
He was such a lovely chap, always happy to help and with deep knowledge of electrickery stuff. My deepest condolences to his family .

I've only just seen this. What terrible sad news. I only ever met Bob once, and that was at the Axminster open day a few years back organised through woodbloke, where we had a great chat and he publicly debunked the "9 Fingers" myth. A lovely guy, who saved me a fortune through his helpful advice on fitting a solar diverter - was there any limit to his expertise? We will miss him. RIP Bob, and my heartfelt condolences to his family. 😢

I’m just catching up on the forum and truly saddened to learn of Bob’s passing.

He invited me over to do some drum sanding for me a couple of years ago. Massively helpful fellow with a great sense of humour.

He will be missed.

Really sad to read this
A tragic loss for his family, friends, and the woodworking community that he was so generous towards. You'll be missed Bob.

Well, crap. I realize this was months ago, but I missed it entirely. Bob was a great person and welcomed me to the...um, other group... when I randomly showed up. I also stayed at his house on my first trip to the UK in 2016. He was a real resource in the electrical needs of woodworkers, and I bet his expertise has already been missed.
