• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi All - I have checked the 'suppliers' dropbox list but not really been able to find what I want from there, so asking here for recommendations.

I have spent so little time in the workshop over the last 6 months that I decided to grab a rainy afternoon this weekend and make something, just to keep me going. Sorted out some maple offcuts and a bit of walnut (I think) veneer and made a small box. Nothing special, approx 18cm square and 5cm deep as that was the size of the offcuts. I then wanted to hinge it and realised I had no small brass hinges. I make boxes as my 'go to' thing when I want some hands-on time, but the last few have all had lift off lids.

Can I remember where I last bought hinges from? Can I heck. I did look at Brusso ones from CHT, but they are far too expensive for a little offcuts box like this. So does anyone have a supplier of good quality brass hinges at a sensible price? Looking for approx 25-30mm long, each leaf to be no more than 10mm.

I did find some at http://www.nichelocks.com although I have no idea of quality, but they do not seem to sell a suitable catch for the front of the box. If I can get both from the same supplier that would be better. Not keen to take a punt on e-bay or amazon etc

Any recommendations appreciated!

Nichelocks are a good company.

I have lots of very nice small hinges suitable for your purposes and you are very welcome to have some.

Cheers

Roger

Thanks Roger - that is very kind of you, but I will give nichelocks a try first - I want a supplier that I can go back to (I will write them down this time!) or I will face the same issue next time I make a box.

My middle son has already laid claim to this one after having seen it, which makes me suspect I will now have to make 2 more for my other sons!
