• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I've done A, C & D, and seen B. What's the proper way? I urge you not to look the answer up on the internet, for your own sake.

I've done A on draw fronts.

Personal choice I prefer C with a tad more rebate, like on this cabinet in our smallest room.

I prefer C too, unless it is a painted finish in which case A or B are much the same.

I've done a lot of sliding sash windows linings with option C, but with the bead 1-2mm below the surface so that when you come to sand the outer linings after assembly you're not creating a flat spot on the bead with the belt sander.

C for me on this cupboard front I made a couple of days ago.

Yes I know it's not square :o

I thought cock beading was applied to the drawer, and stands proud like A. The side bead applied to the surrounding frame as in the photos above is not the same thing. But I might be wrong, often happens.

Isn't it called a staff bead if it's on the frame?

Very nice Doug........and that's a hell of a lot more complicted than it looks at first glance. Just the pattern-making would have been fun, but deliberately out-of-square doors is much more complicated than it sounds.

It was always referred to as cock bead when on cabinet frames in the kitchen industry, https://www.thomasjamesbespoke.co.uk/po ... ockbeading

Staff beads were on sash windows.

I use C. That was how I was taught, whether planted or planed into the frame. Although the curve should be set back slightly from the face so that when you plane or sand the face it does nor touch the curve and when making frames the wood is not rocking on the bead.

Stuart your first comment made me laugh, don’t suppose you meant it to be funny- sorry.

Ok, spelt as one word or two words, all I saw was C-ck rings & piercing. :o

Even Chalie 3's cousin prince Albert is mentioned.

This forum is a mine of education!

I was quite surprised that Google gave me only woodworking. Perhaps it thinks I'm pure of mind

I was looking for a nesting box with a camera as a present for DW, and was recommended a company calked "Nature cameras". Googling them produced a very surprising result, until I noticed M is next to N on the keyboard ...

This is how I have always understood it.
