• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Energy costs

just been checking http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr

Even some of the big supermarkets are over 2 euro up here. Maybe it is cheaper down south.
I've got that site bookmarked dating back to holidays in France to look up prices to plan fuel stops.

I seem to recall that there is some sort of govt control/guidance that allows vendors to vary the price in France immediately based on market prices rather than here where it changes when a fresh delivery is made.

Thermostat down another notch. Now 16 degrees for three hours AM and PM. Nighttime was 15 ...now 13.

Will have to order some bois chauffage soon. Due to my enforced lay-off last year none got ordered so will have to order some seasoned logs for next winter as well unseasoned for the winter after. Will be interesting to see how much prices have gone up.

Had a sunny day here so stove not lit until gone 5pm. Currently 24°c in the living room :D

Our thermostat is set at 8 degrees for the next two weeks and no electricity at all.
We are on holiday .
Very warm here in Madeira thanks very much :D

And if you thought that was enough, today at the big Carrefour hypermarket/mall in Limoges diesel was 2€33 and there was a huge tailback to buy at that price before it gets worse !!!

big Carrefour in Caen last night was cheapest around an 1.89. This morning when I got there 2.06. That's for e10. Very close to 100euro to fill up

Good job you don't fly very much. Just wait for all the leasing defaults/CapeTown agreement being torn up/higher aircraft leasing costs >>>> higher passenger fares.

Source wiki

The 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and subsequent sanctions have had a significant impact on AerCap's operations and stock value[19], as the company has around 150[20] aircraft leased to Russian airlines, which are losing insurance and the ability to source spare parts[21]. Attempts to repossess aircraft with terminated leases have met with little success.

And all thanks to one man.

I am in Madeira.
95 unleaded was 1.75 last Wednesday, when we started our hire car week, I noticed this morning that it’s 1.84.

bet you're regretting the visit to the cake factory now :?

Bloke goes into a Scottish bakery “how much for a slice of that cake”
“One poond” says the baker.
“What about that cake”
“That’s two poonds”
“Why?”
“That’s Madeira cake”

:D

Since dropping the day temp to four hours at 16.5 degrees in the early morning and four hours in the evening and the night time to 13.5 degrees, it is amazing the difference it has made to consumption. On our Watchman, the tank would probably have been half gone by now. Instead just one bar has gone in two weeks.

Result. :eusa-dance:

I was going to ask how you are keeping warm but thought better of it. :)

Log fire, of course. What on earth else could you be thinking of ? Chance would be a fine thing :(
