• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I recently bought an Evolution R255TBL+ Table Saw after all of the raving reviews I had read and heard. However, my machine trips my electric in my shed every time, but only when I turn it OFF. I had my electrics tested and the electrician found no issues. I've just had my machine returned from the warranty inspection as no faults were found, apparently. It is still tripping my electrics and makes a popping sound with a flash from the switch and motor when I turn it OFF. Evolution states that this is normal. I have never had this problem with my previous table saws, which were all more powerful.

If anyone has this machine, I would appreciated their feedback.

A flash is in now way normal tell them it is faulty or the HSE will get a call!

Ditto- no issues
It seems they were unprepared for the models popularity so a batch of substandard product got sent out ' by mistake'
Id be more forceful with them.

I've the same saw unit... no issues as you described. This is definitely NOT normal. H&S Executive as suggested.

Unless he's a business then I doubt HS&E are the ones to go to. Trading Standards, I think, are more relevant.

I doubt either would be bothered about a minority of faulty units, Rog
I would suspect you would be helpfully redirected back to the vendor, then an arbitration facility if that fails.
Im sure Evolution would see sense if presented with some firm documented evidence

The issues I had with mine were minor... just the insert plate - couldn't get it to level due to a kink in the back. They sent a replacement.

That had issues - the small metal plate at the back end was bent up at one front corner.... they sent another - the back plate was loose! Found out these little plates are held in place with double sided tape!!! They were helpful in supplying replacements - a number of.

The only time they've proved unhelpful is trying to source (pay for) a replacement of the *black plastic insert* for the zero cut insert plate. They never got back to me about the black plastic strip but sent another complete unit with the 2 inserts provided. Seems you can't buy the strips.

If not wanting to go via HSE or Trading Standards then just keep on at them that there is an electrical fault, not at your end - provide the statement from the sparky you used - and tell them you want a new replacement or full refund. There's probably other steps you can take, like maybe putting this issue up on their Facebook page, if you don't get sorted.

Just noticed the date @Manny7222 made this post: 10th May 2025. I'm not sure if he's still here... as I didn't get an 'automatic listing' showing his name!? Maybe he got things sorted - and has moved on? Last seen same date as his post!

I got a zero clearance plate as a freebie option but havent used it yet.
Ive read it still isnt quite as good as its supposed to be,with the 3d printed ones off ebay being better.
I did buy a replacement mitre bar from ebay and its a vast improvement over the original item
Also some blocks to mount a router table-allegedly allowing the use of the fence.
I just need to scrounge an 18mm board offcut to get that going.
Other things Ive changed is a low profile riving knife( I do a lot of groove cutting) and a replacement sight glass ( that has a marker that actually reaches the scale!)
The dust extractor nozzle attachment has an odd size hose that surprise surprise only fits the Evolution dust vac ( that is then incompatible with the + variants..!) so I just use a £4 tablesaw dust sack the mrs got for me off temu.

My inner-cynical-old -git pondered if all these fixes were deliberately to get some extra trade but the fact that 3d printer equipped customers got in there first suggests that Evolution just didnt think things through properly first
Which is even worse because its not their first tablesaw rodeo.

Beside all that I dont regret the purchase as its probably the best budget saw around and according to one review I saw was giving the equivalent saws from the yellow and blue manufacturers saws a tough time.

Yes... as they use the same orange metal piece the 'pins' at the back aren't always at the correct angle to 'lock' into the section of the table so causes some 'wobble' - as with the supplied insert. That's what I've found with the ones the sent me. Even trying to get totally level with the adjustment screws. I've not looked for any on ebay - I've enough 'originals' to fiddle with 😎

The mitre bar... I found removing the little washer helped to take away the side wobble when in the slot. That said, I got a replacement one from Temu in one of the first orders I placed with them.

I got the Evolution short riving knife and haven't yet had any problems.

I'd be interested to hear where you got the 'sight glass' for the measure - I don't understand why Evolution didn't do one that reaches the measure scale!

I'm with you, apart from these little quibbles, I don't regret the purchase.

It also has a thumbwheel instead of a screw which is even better.
Seemed a bit pricey from the description but once fitted the quality speaks volumes

Much appreciated Martin 👍. Ordered. Agree re the price but with the *free* p&p included... 😉

Do you have a link to the exact replacement you got on temu please?

I'll need to look on my laptop and try to trace back on the order/s from them. I doubt any link I may have in the order would be valid now as it was back in possibly October last year... 10 months ago. Could take a day or 2 to find it. I'll try to do some photos of it also...

Hi @ziplock9000... sorry, unable to get the link. Looks like I deleted that and my other Temu order receipts as I stopped dealing with them.

I'll still take some photos if you think they may help you to find it? Won't be before Monday as I'm a tad busy over the weekend.

Just confirm if you believe the photos will help

If Frank cant find it,there will be plenty more as its a standard t-slot

This is what I got as an alternative.
Spc
You just use the fittings from your evolution.
Its an absolutely perfect fit guaranteed.

If you have a mitre saw you may find you dont actually need a mitre bar
The wobble feels substandard but in practice it makes no difference to accurately
