You know, where all the clouds dump their contents before ascending the Dales........the one which averages 140 days of rain a year? I've got the right Manchester, haven't I........the one that gets over a foot more rain in a year than us?
It was indeed ICL, now that name is no longer in use, Fujitsu is how they are know today. They built a new site which is much better than the old one.Andyp":1oqddwyx said:DaveL":1oqddwyx said:I remember visiting a company site in Manchester, I was told not to park close to the fence as the locals were in the habit of tossing bricks over onto any cars near it.
Was that company ICL in West Gorton Dave?
I used to work in the Ashton manufacturing plant and if ever we had to visit the West Gorton site we would forgo the rather beneficial personal mileage rates and opt for a pool car instead. The bricks over the fence there was no myth.
No they don't make anything in the UK anymore.Andyp":1chld5sw said:There must have been at least 6 or 7 name changes in the 27 years I spent with ICL. It was indeed Fujitsu by the time I left in 2007.
Are they still manufacturing computers in Manchester?
