• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Grrrr....what is it with some tradesmen?

The guy whose re-rendering our front wall had arranged to come round first thing this morning to erect his tower and possibly mine as well to give extra span. Probably take a couple of hours tops and then he'd be gone and the rest of the day to ourselves. I'd arranged to meet up with a mate of mine, who I'd not seen for a while, for a few beers in the evening and then a nice chilli con carne and a bottle of Rioja and a DVD curled up with LOML.

I picked up a voicemail from him this morning which was left on my phone last night. A friend of his daughter has been let down by an electrician blah blah blah blah and so he's now not coming this morning but this evening. Sometime. He doesn't know when. I need to help him rig it as he's a bit too gung-ho for my liking and LOML has some exceedingly rare peonies in his line of fire if I'm not careful.

Bugger doesn't even have a mobile phone. Said he'd ring his wife at lunchtime to see if we'd called in which case he'd then call us back from his job. We did ring her. Has he called us ? Nope. Bastard. Trouble is he's a very good plasterer and better the Devil you know when it comes to plastering etc. Even so.

Logic and commonsense said he should have stuck to the original plan and done us first. But logic and commonsense does not feature in his vocabulary. Prat. Prat of the first order.

So no beers. Dinner on hold. Definitely no DVD.

Does not seem that unreasonable to me. I expect it has bu88ered up his day too! I guess if you had had a similar emergency from a family member, you might have needed to change the arrangements too?

Bob

No it doesn't. It's not a family member. But a friend of his daughter. Not a family member.

It is the assumption that we'll just tag along...bugger whatever we were planning to do. Call me old-fashioned but we had an arrangement. Keep to the arrangement and then go down and be the White Knight that he loves to be.

Grrrr.....expletive deleted....it wasn't even a friend of his daughter. It was his mate's daughter. He came. He dropped off the tower. He buggered off.

      !

Well at least you got some response.
There's 4 local fencing contractors who advertise regularly in our Parish Magazine who never answer their phones or respond to messages on their answer machines!

Why bother to advertise?

Rod

Aaargh...it wasn't even a friend of his daughter but a daughter of a mate!

He finally arrived and all he did was drop the ********** stuff off. So I waited in for nothing. Tosser
