Hand mitre saw. Repurpose ?

I imagine many of us have one of these
Photo off the internet for illustration.
Mine has been unused for at least ten years.
I’m trying to think what I can use the parts for.
Unless someone wants it foc?

I've never had one. Are they any good? I always assumed people use them to make picture frames.

I have that exact model. Although cheap, it cuts decent mitres, as seen here for example

I can't think of any better use for it.

But maybe you could make a sort of hand powered sanding tool by putting a strip of wood in place of the blade, with abrasive paper glued on?

They actually work really well, especially if you start off carefully.

Not that I do a lot of mitres but I cut close to the line on the bandsaw then sneak up to it on a shooting board. Something I learned on this or the other forum.
As for repurposing yours, I don't know, maybe a fancy charcuterie slicer if you change the blade. :?

We used to sell them back in the day when the only brand freely available and only through companies like ours was Nobex, we sold loads and they were pretty accurate and solid, I got mine as a "free" sample for taking in a 100 unit order and I still have it though very little used these days. Mine is like Trigger's broom as it's had several handles, currently one from an old hand saw.

I have the Champion version of one of those and as stated earlier they are, or can be, very accurate.

Same here. I chop them out on the bandsaw and then plane accurately to size on a mitre shoot - Rob
