• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

How is this used

Found this in assorted tools in father’s workshop earlier. I did an image search so I know what it is but I have never seen one nor know how it would be used

I've never needed to use one, so this is not from direct experience, but I think it's as simple as:

1 - Choose a notch that fits snugly over a saw tooth and comes about a third of the way down it.
2 - With the saw in a vice, or flat on the bench, use the tool to bend each tooth the same amount, bending alternate teeth in opposite directions.

To help with getting a consistent bend, there was a variant model which had a little clamp that screwed onto the main blade. This could be set so it would touch the saw plate as each bend was completed.

The notch at the end provides a split screwdriver for turning split saw screws.

Here's another interesting saw setting tool. (which thankfully I had tucked away in a folder)

Thanks for that wee snippet Andy.

I can imagine that for someone working in the woods with big saws, or in a saw-pit, that these would be the quickest and most convenient way of sorting out the set on their 5,4,3 or even 2 or 1TPI saws. Someone in a workshop, with maybe 16 or 20 TPI saws, would likely find them useless, I reckon.
