• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I have been such a bloody fool

I agree with you, Sam. But I am a pragmatist and given that it's my fault that this has all kicked off then it's much easier to keep wearing my mask until such time as she is out of the woods (as far as can be ascertained w/o taking the test)
Because you brought home the dreaded lurgie you just have to say "yes dear" to whatever she says Roger, keep your head down and suck it up until it's over and the heat has died down. She will of course never forget and you will be reminded on appropriate occasions.

I know Bob. Another entry in the Book of Transgressions

I regularly get reminded of a transgression I made 50 years ago 🙄
You might think I did something absolutely horrendous, but actually involved me not buying her (she was a new girlfriend) a bag of chips 😀

LOL....how do they do it ?

We don't buy each other cards or presents for anniversaries and I of course thought that also applied on our 25th. - BIG mistake on my part and too late once I'd been reminded of my error to do anything about it. I was regularly reminded of it over the years and approaching our 50th was told in no uncertain terms that it must be treated no differently to our 25th. Which is the reason I secretly made something special in wood.
Finally redemption after 25 years. :ROFLMAO:

Well, if she wanted the 50th to be treated no differently, then why did you make her anything at all ? :ROFLMAO:

When our kids were babies, we were very short of money ( no maternity pay in those days) all spare money went on the kids Christmas presents at that time of the year. I happened to be in the Coop department store and saw an egg whisk in a remainders bin, knowing she wanted one I bought it.
Stupidly I gave her it on Christmas morning, “all I got for Christmas was a bloody egg whisk!” Has an annual outing 😀

Going back to early comments on the 100 day cough it can be pretty bad. I'm a fit 40 something but do have asthma. Had COVID last October quickly followed with a cough/cold had a month of coughing so bad that I could barely move with chest pains and still have a cough now. Not looking forward to winter!

I've never bought SWIMBO a birthday present and she even resents having a card. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've bought her a Christmas pressie as well and those I have bought I've always kept the receipt so she can get a refund at M&S.

There's one exception though which was when I was in M&S about three years ago and spotted one of their 'top of the range' big, black leather tote bags. Summoning up all my available courage, I picked it up, went to the the payment counter and then asked the girlie behind the till if she'd like that sort of thing under the Christmas tree. She blew her cheeks out, her eyes went as wide as saucers and she nodded about four times. Reassured, I bought it and although it caused a distinct frown and 'the look' on Christmas morning, she now uses every day for her lunch box when I drive her to the hospital - Rob
