• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I thought it a hummingbird when I first saw it out of the corner of my eye but I think it's a moth of some kind. huge proboscis on it, probably 1/3 to 1/2 the length of its body. Wingspan of approximately 2 inches. Lovely looking thing. Along with the bees it was loving the lavender outside our back door.

Impressive little beasties, the Hummingbird Hawk Moth. We've only ever seen two in our gardens, and they were both in the last couple of years here, making us optimistic that we'll see more.
 
Cool thanks chaps, I'll do some googling on them.

Rod - video taken about 4pm yesterday afternoon.

I have 3 different lavender types in my garden, 1 is finished but the other two still going strong.

Those two in the video are outside our back door and the record for bumble bees on them at any one time, that I've counted, was 38!

The hum was amazing. [emoji2]

First time I've ever seen one Andy, really threw me a I thought it was a Hummingbird which really surprised me, until I got closer.

Please don't post any more photos of lavender. Yet another plant that was much loved but now impossible to grow in Bogland. :(
