I agree. Never give up. I started playing when I was 14. Had been forbidden guitar by my father (no idea why) but by that time had passed much hated Grade 8 piano (after 8 or 9 years of forced practice twice a day) and was very much into rock music to their massive disapproval. Mostly I listened to this at my friends house as his dad was very relaxed and also had a Rover. :eusa-clap: I bought a Gibson SG copy originally, and plugged it into my Pioneer amp that I had saved up for from paper rounds as part of my bedroom hi fi. That guitar was promptly confiscated when they somehow found it under my bed (no idea what they did with it) but I then I bought a jumbo acoustic - which I still have for sentimental reasons - and they gave up. Guitar is way, way easier to play than classical piano, so I soon had a great time in various bands as practically all pop and rock can be covered (in some form) with 4 chords and 2 scales. You can get away with 1 scale if pushed  If you get past the basics you become a local superstar
. I was still useless at pulling girls though. I bet Jeff had no trouble.
Was unaware of sister Tharpe so thanks for that.
