• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Following Rob’s cabinet WIP his use of the whittling knife caught my eye.
So I found a old dinner knife of the type that I have modified into tools in the past.

I decided to retain as much of the thicker back as possible.
Cut off the waste and tidied it up with an Aldi linisher that I bought eons ago.

This is the result.
This afternoon I’ll sit in the shade under the plum tree and hone the edge.
If you spot these knives in charity shops, snap them up, they are useful for so many purposes and the blades are top class.

I thought you were running short Rob. I have loads of nice pen blanks which would make great handles.. I think I might have one of those knives I used to open paint tins.
Got lots of offcuts, perfick for knife handles and pen blanks - Rob

Jim, that's an impressive collection, but I can't spot a bench knife anywhere amongst them. I hope you have enough old knives to make a few!
I expect most people will know what I'm talking about by now, but here's a good introduction:
