• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Lots of Holtzapffel lathes at auction

They look splendid.

There's a Goyen in there, apparently only 12 were ever made. The last time one came up it made about £50k. I'm hoping to bag myself something assuming it doesn't go crazy.

There were a lot of bargains there. I completely forgot about it or I might have been tempted by a few things. Probably for the best in the long run.

Most definately, there were a few things I wish I'd got early on but I was restricting myself for the stuff nearer the end. There's a wood auction coming up so I might as well wait to collect my stuff after it. I dont trust a pallet courier and its a 9hr round trip. I think I might need a hire van.

Wow. They might as well have been giving most of that stuff away for the prices they were fetching.
Agreed. I've just had a look back. Anyone who's ever envied my lovely little Barnes treadle metalworking lathe could have snatched up this Milnes model which would have got you started - for 30 quid! (Ok, with fees that's £33.60, but you'd pay that for a lunch on a motorway) - https://www.hjpugh.com/catalogue/lo...-of-rare-early-woodworking-lathes-me-lot-274/

I could have upgraded my woodturning lathe and my bandsaw in one go, for 20 quid!
