• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Moving and changing GP surgery ?

Using the excellent NHSApp ? Then before you make the switch I suggest you download as many documents, results, details etc that you can. Screen grab those that can't be downloaded. Because if you move to a surgery that uses the Accurx system then you will no longer be able to see them easily and it will also depend on whether or not your new surgery will facilitate the transfer. DAMHIKT. I was once completely 'in control' of my health. Now, haven't got a clue. Nothing visible. Can't go back to check anything.

And even if the surgery does transfer your old records over, what they 'allow' you to see depends on ther policy. Which if they restrict information is a bit crazy since you are entitled to go into the surgery and ask to see it. Caveat...possibly they can or will block mental health related stuff, I think.

Had a similar experience on moving 10 months ago. Shortly before moving I had reason to look up details of an op 18 years ago; no problem. After moving I was surprised to find only recent entries were available. Strangely some were from my old surgery. When I had my annual MOT at the new surgery, the nurse demonstrated to me that she had full access and was surprised that I could not get the same. The surgery admin assured me that full access could arranged on request. I left it at that.

It sounds like you think we must be in the 21st century where data can be shared across platforms and the NHS has embraced technology, sorry but not happening as we have found out where data is not shared between NHS trust.

In my case it was all within the same trust, so it seems that GP surgeries can have their own procedures.
 
We see to have two parallel systems in Kent one broad NHS and one is GP. It works but is clunky.
 
Just to add another layer of frustration:

1) We moved from N.I. N.H.S to North East England N.H.S. One family member was terminally ill and we needed her notes pronto to enable chemo- and radio- therapy. Eight months later - and after a in-person visit to two surgeries, where I told them I wasn't leaving without printed or digital copies - I got them. With very bad grace, I might add. "Go do something anatomically impossible to youreslf" I thought....😡😡

2) Another family member has a very serious abdominal problem.that has her registered as "Disabled". She needs treatment, but N.H.S. Scotland can't provide it....or rather, they do, but the speciality is in functional limbo "just now"....so, she was referred to the nearest functioning specialist (NuuKassel, as pronounced). Ahmmm, no, sorry, but her referring consultant has to apply for, direct to H.M.G. (Scotland) for a special legal permission to have a Scottish resident, under H.M.G.(Scotland) treated in an establishment under H.M.G. (England)....time to process? About 18months. No.guarantee of success.

So, not only is data sharing an impossibility, but also, the much vaunted "joined up Health Service" is anything but, a concept hijacked and then destroyed by bean counters zealously preventing any of their shekels for their fiefdoom being used to alleviate suffering in another 'fiefdoom'.

I bl00dy well bet, taxation operates across St. George's Channel and Hadrian's Wall, irrespective of postcode though.
