Now, this is a bit of a saga and stems from marital chicanery in which I lost out...again. We have just moved. Downsizing now that we are sort of retired and moving closer to my roots (Plymouth) and my daughter and 3 grandchildren in Weston-S-Mare. OK, the deal was supposed to be that Meryl (my lovely wife) could choose the house but I had to have a large garage/outhouse capable of supporting my workshop and a 2 post car lift. I went off to work in W Africa to help fund all of this and, to cut to the chase we ended up with an, admittedly lovely, terraced double cottage with no semblance of what i wanted, just a wretched shed which is falling down. FORTUNATELY there was enough garden to happily accommodate a workshop and i had been thinking for a long time about ceasing my lifelong hobby of playing with cars and metalwork. Too old now for lying on the floor and kneeling etc. So, in a way it was propitious but don't tell Meryl that.
In terms of what I wanted I found someone to work with me who can draw and we came up with this:

Now, It was designed to be 7m x 3m and 2.5m high at the eaves. About a 10 degree pitch and a red tiled roof to fit in with the houses around. Because its only a meter from the fence it would need planning, or not and just build it. I considered the latter and it would probably have been fine, we have great neighbours etc. I wanted to build it immediately so no delays needed. In the end I decided to keep to the permitted development rules, 2.5m max height. This forced a roof rethink, only about 3 degree slope. I ended up using EPDM. Excellent stuff but a nightmare when you have bought the wrong rooflights...
ok enough typing! I have loads of pics. I learned a huge amount. Its the first time I have attempted anything like this.
I will post a few wip pics and several finished ones. In the unlikely even that anyone is interested ask away and i will post more pics as necessary or requested.
oh yes, its clad in cedar - no treatment required!

Phew! I think that will do for now!
