• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Recently had a couple of texts spaced about a fortnight apart that are puzzling.

Yesterdays was one telling me that my parcel from Whistl UK had been delivered by Amazon Shipping and that it had been left behind the wheelie bin. A very detailed tracking history. All very strange and, after talking to Amazon, it was an unknown tracking number to them.

So what gives ? I'm not asked to enter any data at all. No usernames. No passwords. I'm not being asked to download an APK or any other software (which I wouldn't). An intensive search plus numerous interactions with chatGPT suggest that there are no vectors to allow malware to be loaded. In any event, my phone is running Norton. I don't see this as a zero-day exploit because the timescales between the messages is too long.

So, guys, any ideas ? What are they trying to achieve?
 
Most likely, whoever the parcel belonged to put the wrong phone number in by accident, and it sent you an SMS rather than their own phone.

Amazon are terrible for tracking numbers at the moment, the last few orders I've had from there, the tracking numbers belonged to parcels that had already been delivered 6 months prior to a different part of the country, it's a bit of a pain because if you want to redirect a parcel or postpone it to a day when you're in, you can't.

Doh ! It's so obvious now. Were it not for your second paragraph, I'd have been sceptical but seems it's not surprising that they couldn't find the tracking number
 
Had similar TXT last week in middle of max heat from DPD telling me My Fresh Dog Meat order was being delivered lunch time.
Quite a surprise,. ***

As it arrived within a few seconds and sandwiched between TXT messages from hospital Haematology/Oncology department, was wondering what to expect when signing in to my NHS account.


***haven't had any Mutts for 30+ years.
