New lathe now in the workshop

The lathe I ordered to replace the Perform was due to arrive today at 4 this afternoon, it turned up at 5 past 4.

Stuart delivered it, he managed to get it to the shop door, but the crate was an inch wider than the frame, so we parked it just outside. I then moved the contents into the shop, bit bit at a time. The legs where in separate boxes.

The instructions say to remove the headstock, tool rest and tailstock from the bed to assemble it, which made the bits easier to move. It took me an hour or so the bolt the legs on and then refit the other parts on.

I am well pleased with it, it takes a little more space than the old one, but its so smooth in operation. I spent some time cleaning my old jaws and mounting them on carriers. I new to fit a shelf and refit the drawers. I will be making some shavings tomorrow.[emoji3]

Its where the old one stood. There is a good deal stuff on the bench behind it that needs sorting out, a lot of it will go on the shelf when I fit it into the lathe stand. Surprisingly not many of the shavings make it over that said of the lathe.
