• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

New website - again haha.

Hi Chaps, I did this only a few months ago and asked for your thoughts on my new website, and you gave some constructive feedback - cheers. 8-)

I've changed it again and thought it would be very cool (again) for some of your valued feedback - if you don't mind of course.

The website's appearance?

Is it user friendly?

What is it telling you?

Link below - thanks in advance.

Much better, Paul, in my view. The only thing I would quibble with is writing about yourself in the third person........."Paul has been working in the woodworking craft since the beginning of his apprenticeship back in July 1981. Since finishing his apprenticeship during the 1980's, Paul's career has covered the whole spectrum of the woodworking". I can't see a reason for not writing in the first person: "I have been working in the woodworking craft since my apprenticeship........" etc.

No link showing on Tapatalk but I agree with Mike unless it was a very famous, well known person giving the recommendation?

The website's appearance? I thought so. Looks professionally made and is pleasing to my eye

Is it user friendly? Yes, I had no issues finding my way around.

What is it telling you? What a darn good craftsman you are

Link below - thanks in advance.

Have to agree about the 3rd person stuff.

Thanks chaps - much appreciated. Yep. I think it's much better than the last layout - nice one cheers. I've also got rid of the 3rd person thingy. I think you're absolutely right and I shall tell Mrs P she's wrong

I do like the 'red' writing bit - cheers Andy. 8-)

Nice website, Mr. P. I found it easy to navigate, and quite full of info. And, it is obvious that your skills are exemplary. I do recall tho, that when you last 'updated' , that you went with 'Wood Monkey'. I was looking for some link, or explanation, to the monkey, but alas only Merlin was mentioned. Perhaps a rename to something relating to the 'wizard'. Please do take this as just my opinion, but it is the way I see it. I firmly believe that you are a wizard with wood!! Thoughts? ....bill

Cheers Bill. Yes, I remember now you've mentioned the Merlin thing and it's a good point. I shall make some kind of reference to the 'Monkey' and where/why I use the name. Darn good idea ole chap. 8-)

I've just had a quick flick through

a few thoughts

over all very good

I'm a wierdo, and using firefox under linux .. but the writing goes outside the lines in my browser
(pic at bot)

After scrolling down looking at your pictures .. a "Back To Top" button would be nice :-)

you still have the 3rd/1st person thing going on in "About"

......"The owner of Wood Monkey Workshop is Dorset born-and-raised Paul J. Morris-Pinchefsky, who set up in business during 2010 and has since established a small workshop in the heart of rural Dorset.

I have been working in the woodworking craft since the beginning of my......"

Looks very nice I think. Excellent !

Detail on the front page : "a variety work" - should be a variety of work ?

Ah ha, well spotted. I'll amend it. Cheers David 8-)

Cheers Rich, yes, I thought I'd leave the first sentence as it is - like an intro.

That's strange your text overrides the lines on the page - :eusa-think:

Yes, I have wondered about a 'back to top' button, but I couldn't find one in the tools available. I'll have another look. 8-)

just put a link at the bottom, to the page you are on.
It will re-load the page again, but have the same effect as back to the top.
When you get used to it, you can hash tag link to various parts of the page :-)

A very long time since I did any web work though ..

I also get an incorrect display on the Mac using both Safari and Firefox but the text overlaps on the left of the page rather than the right.

Nice website.
