• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I have just used Osmo oil on my floor, looks excellent, and wanted some further advice not covered by the FAQs. Osmo do not have a helpline/email enquiry facility but do have a user community. Thought I would try that. While creating an account so I can post it told me I would be sharing my Google email information with Facebook. NNOOooooo.
So I cancelled it.

I have now nearly set up a Facebook account having received an email asking me to confirm my email address. I have also joined Google+ and received emails telling me it is closing and I should remove any photos, videos etc, an email asking if I want to contact various people I may know on Google+ and an email trying to get me to take out a credit card. All on a Google email account that receives about one email a month.

Well done Osmo!

I should say I am not a luddite but I do not want to get involved in the information sharing of these large organisations when I am not allowed to control the information I share. Having been the subject of at least three attempts to open bank accounts in my name I have become very careful about what information and to whom I disclose it.

I've called Osmo UK in the past for technical support, they've been very helpful, often emailing PDFs with further product details and application notes which are usually a bit brief on the tin.

Unfortunately no contact details on the web site and a German number on the can.

Did you try googling it ?

Many thanks for those. I did google it and came up with their UK web site http://www.osmouk.com which does not have any contact details or enquiry facilities that I can find. I gave up when it became a requirement to create a Facebook account in order to join their user group. I will give them a call on Monday.

I just looked on their site via the link and there is a phone number and an email form under contacts near the bottom of the page.

I must admit to not wanting to sign up to social media just to get in touch with a company, some companies really seem to make it hard work for no reason - that's lots of years trying to track down engineering bits or information speaking. I have been known to spend half a day on a " simple" request.

Thanks Bob, I thought I was getting old and blind and you have proved it :( . It was there in front of me and I did not see it. There again I do spend nearly half my life looking for the thing I put down a few seconds ago.

I still object to Google and Facebook data mining and firms that use solutions that force you to use these companies. Google must have used my phone contact list, I have given gmail access to it for it to work, to drag up contacts who are also on Google+. Two of the three suggested friends are very old business contacts I have not contacted in over 10 years. I did clear out my contacts a few years ago but one of the sync programs corrupted my contacts and I had to go to a back up which was before the clear out. I will one day go through it again.
