Paul Sellers’ traveling joiner’s tool chest

I built this for a few reasons. Firstly, as practice before i make Dr Al’s travel tool chest, as i wanted to practice dovetails etc.

Also, to use in the interim until i build this other one, which i figured may take a tear or so to build. I work full time and have kids and a grandkid etc.

Also, i may give it to my grandson when he gets older with some tools, or if my best friends son wants to get into woodworking.

Anyways, built this as i ama big fan of Paul Sellers and enjoy hos teaching style and videos.

I built this out of cherry and made the drawers from scrap wood i had laying around which was a mix of mahogany and alder. Took me probably 3 months to build.

Well done Steve. If those are amongst your first dovetails, then they look great. My only comment would be that you'd need to be built like Popeye to lift it when it's full of tools!

As for handles, the type i want are kind of expensive, as I need one on each side would cost nearly $50. So i am hoping to find some at an antique shop or salvage shop. This is the style I would like to use:

Thank you, but these aren’t my first dovetails. I made a hanging tool chest before this in which i got some practice as well. I slowly improving but could still use some work. I see people making them straight off the saw, but mine take a bit of work to clean up with chisles before they fit
