• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

You know those spring-loaded tape measures ? The ones that fly back into the holder when you let them go ?

The heavy duty ones that, if you have a very long length, will overshoot past your hand towards your body due to momentum ?

Well, this morning I was outside measuring up some stuff and was wearing a pair of lightweight shorts. The tape overshot and hit the old man. That made my eyes water, I can tell you. And he's none too chipper, if truth be told as I think I smashed a vein open or closed..not too sure..but a big bruise has developed and it's almost as if stuff is going in but not necessarily coming back out again and so he's sort of swelling a little. I don't really fancy going into A&E

Please...I asked you not to laugh.
 
my reaction was an urge to cross my legs and lean forward a bit.

I hope no one asks for pictures..

FWIW I do not find it funny at all. Tis the sort of thing that could happen to any of us, no really.

You really should go to A&E though, I already have a vision of the nurses doctors and ancillary workers gathered around, Carry on Doctor style.

I did something similar doing some seemingly innocuous DIY. I was replacing a tap handle and the grub screw holding it in was seized solid so i drilled it out very carefully. I then prised the handle loose and to my dismay the tip of the screw, which had not been fully drilled out, shot out and hit me in the eyeball (not my old chap but just as eye watering).

I had been wearing safety glasses for the drilling bit but had stupidly taken them off thinking the danger had now passed. Left a great big lump on the eyeball with a fair bit of bleeding; my GP was not too sympathetic and the eye drops stung like hell!

I always find its the most innocent things you do that cause the most pain, i suspect its something to do with you not expecting it!

Seriously though, you should go to A&E. Tell them big Jim and the twins have taken a bit of a hit.

Well, I let nature take its course although for once in my life I was a 'shower' and not a 'grower' :D

Big bruise but settling down nicely.

All the emotions in one go!!

Glad it's not as bad as first thought.

A couple of weeks ago I was sat on the kitchen stool in shorts, legs akimbo man style when my little boy came running up and flew into my arms. The looseness of the shorts and the warmth of the day contributed to…erm…loose skin in the nether satchel region and my nuggets sitting on the stool top. I caught him as all good Daddies do but his knee came down hard onto my right marble and that had nowhere to go due to the stool top!

Let's just say he flew away from me as quickly as he flew at me and the pair of us spent the next ten minutes in pain and feeling sick rolling around on the kitchen rug! :shock:

Well in all honesty I did NOT expect this when i opened this thread. :lol:
Glad everyone is doing ok, also, as a dad of a youngen I'm all too familiar with the bruised meat and taters...

As long as the pain goes and swelling stays.

I remember a long time ago (50+ years) when I got my first bike and was peddaling uphill when the chain came off.

There was the crossbar, the nuts and a lot of Kg's on top. They were indeed a sad looking pair, all blue, black and purple. :(
The folks took me to see a Doc and fortunately no permanent damage, apart from the ego.
The swelling sure made them look impressive. 8-)
