• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. recommendations for wet and dry vac with PTO

The automatic power-on gizmo in my wen-and-dry vacuum has failed and no longer switches on the vacuum when I fire up the power tool.

Any recommendations?

I see a Karcher WD3P for £84 inc delivery.

I use a cheapo McAllister? one from B&Q which is still going strong after many years but I see they now cost £80!
The ones from ALDI and Lidl are supposed to be good.

I haven't looked but very much doubt it...suspecting that it is all on one board. I've had it for eight years so it's done sterling work.
 
That's kind of you to research, Andy, but for not much more I can get a new vacuum. I actually do have the internals for that type of control but with everything else going on, simply easier to flash-the-cash. And if I knew in which box it was located :?
 
No research Rog, I had the French version of one of those bookmarked before I went down the remote socket route which personally I think is preferable.
 
I've a friend who has a Karcher PTO vac, Works ok, but the filter does clog up easy with the finer dust (bagless). I've had a Bosch GAS 20L, a class L vac... with a bit of hunting it can be picked up cheaper without the floor nozzel set. It did perform funny with variable speed tools, but in general was excellent. Gear has got pricy now though ...

Or how about creating your own power take off with one of these plugs?

Ps. I've used one of those plugs in the old shop, with a twin 1kw vac and routers, they work fine, thinking of getting one to run my old numatic George off at home.
