• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Can't remember when I got this plane, needed a bar for the side guide?, managed to find something. Now in search of a depth guide and thumb screw.1000008498.jpg1000008499.jpg1000008500.jpg

If you just want to put it into use, and you also have a Stanley #71 router, you might be able to borrow the fence and screw from there. They fit on mine, which is a Record 078 copy. (But as supplied, the router fence has a pair of ribs where the rebate plane has just one, which might matter.)

Over here, I've seen 3D printed versions for sale on eBay, which might be a reasonable replacement.

Over the years, I've read various mentions of the St James Bay Tool Co as a maker and seller of parts for old tools.

Their website has a long list, including the depth stop for a #78

but as far as I can see they don't just sell online themselves. They do sell on eBay, here:

but I can't see one listed there at present. Maybe a phone call is your best bet.

This website is an excellent source for quality (new, not vintage) parts.
I highly recommend them. The owner is Anthony Cimiglia. He is now shipping to the UK.

Welcome to the forum Alex.
Sorry you had some trouble getting past our spam filters.
When you have a moment why not pop into the Welcome board and introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what floats your boat in the woodworking world.

Thank you, Andy. Thank you for the add as well...
I will do so tomorrow. I find it takes a lot of time to post and reviews posts! 😄 I did a little of each today.
I have a lot of work to do to get my shop up and running since moving out here to a small farm (25 years ago) and trying to reorganize.
A work-in-progress... I had to build my current shop from an old barn before actually doing any wood, metal, and/or leather work.
I retired four years ago and am trying to catch-up.
I must say that I favor these UK Forums/Blogs/websites (yours and UKWorkshop especially) over those available here in the colonies...
for various reasons, not the least of which is my preference for UK-made tools! :) Tools are my thing... as we say here.
