• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I've just acquired a basic Android phone (huawei y5) which seems to work fine in all the functions I've tested but has the annoying habit of turning itself off every now and again even with battery fully charged. It restarts/re-boots fine, no odd effects, works fine for 12hrs or so, then left to itself on the shelf overnight, I find it has turned itself off again when I go to use it the next morning. Battery still at 80 or 90%. Sometimes it does it in the middle of the day. Never, so far, when actually in use.

I've looked in various forums on line and it seems I'm not the only one with this problem, but from what I've read it seems to be common to any and all android phones.

Anyone have any hints or tips ?

I bought 2 Lenovo/Motorola moto E3 in March this year and set them identically for my twins. One had this habit for the first 2-3 months. Just checked with daughter and it has noy happened "for ages". They have had at least one Android update and I think one from Lenovo to update the phone as well.
Have you checked that the the phone software is up to date as well as Android?

I've had several Android phones and from different manufacturers and none have done what yours is doing. My current one is a Huawei Honor 7.

My last Motorola (Moto G something) did it quite frequently but never when being use. My current Moto G4Plus running Android 7.0 does not do it.

My iPhone 5s shut itself down twice during that last run of hot weather, both times when I was out in the sun with the phone in my shirt pocket.

The younger generation in the family said it was due to heat and that I should do a start with the home and start buttons held down together. That restarted it successfully both times.

Could the others have been heat problems?

my motorola shuts down sometimes. Not often, and usually over night.

other times it seems to warm up, and flatten the battery quickly ! a reboot usually stops that one.
(I don't have stuff running in the background - that I know of!)
