• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Things have really gone downhill with Wadkin...

They can't even spell Planer properly anymore :eusa-doh:

Perhaps it's me that's wrong, and it's an excellent piece of garden machinery :eusa-think:

That's weird! What's really going on? Does "planter" mean "planer" in some other language? Is it really a mistake?

That & the 450 have been called Planter for years

And no one in all that time has informed them that it's spelt incorrectly?

I wonder if they use Tersa knives by any chance? Perhaps it's Plan for plane and Ter for Tersa, hence Planter.

It looks like you're on to it - seems they make (or have made for them) two versions of each model - with and without Tersa heads.

WB planers.pngWhich doesn't explain why their under/over isn't a "Planter & Thicknester" ;)

Cheers, Vann.

Of course it should be noted that there are now two Wadkins.

Daltons own the "Wadkin" name - and I believe now make a limited range of "Wadkin" branded, new machines in the UK.

AMS own the old Wadkin's intellectual property - and have machines manufactured offshore, for sale as "Wadkin-Bursgreen".

All very confusing :eusa-think:

Cheers, Vann.

Back in the late 90's I was buying a bulk batch of Barnet crossbows for the gun club to use after the handguns had been stolen from us.
The rep came down for a trial evening. During the course of it I asked why his "Lightning" model crossbows had a shiny sticker on the side spelt "Lightening"

He went very red and admitted no one at the UK head office had noticed the Chinese spelling error. :eusa-doh:
